Open a bank account in Iași

Several banks in Iași offer advantageous services for Ukrainian refugees. If you need an account for your salary or just day-to-day operations, here’s what you need to know.

BCR (Banca Comercială Română)

To open a bank account at BCR, Ukrainian citizens need the following documents:

  • International passport
  • The current address from Ukraine, translated into English or Romanian, obtained on the basis of a document (e.g. electronic invoice). If the address is not translated, an authorised translation of it is needed.

Banca Transilvania

To open a bank account at Banca Transilvania, Ukrainian citizens need the following documents:

  • International passport or
  • The translated and legalized copy of the Ukrainian passport (ID card)

Update! BT in Iași now requires that people who do not speak Romanian or English to open an account together with an authorised translator.

Revolut

Revolut is a provider of banking and payment services. The company offers multi-currency cards and mobile app that includes currency exchange, peer-peer payment and bank transfer solutions.

To open a Revolut account, Ukrainians citizens need the following documents:

  • international passport or
  • Ukrainian passport (ID card)

Sign up to Revolut, download the mobile app and apply for a IBAN. Revolut has a local partnership with Libra Bank, therefore your IBAN will be a Romanian one (you can use it to receive your salary).

Revolut can be used even without ordering a physical card, through Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Revolut can be used in multiple languages, including Ukrainian and Russian.

ING

To open a bank account at ING, Ukrainian citizens need the following documents:

  • International or Ukrainian passport
  • Temporary protection
  • A declaration confirming the address in Ukraine (to be completed and signed in the branch)

Update! The activation of the new accounts for Ukrainians can take at least couple of weeks.

OTP

To open a bank account at OTP Bank, Ukrainian citizens need the following documents:

  • International passport or Ukrainian passport or ID card (with authorised translation)
  • Temporary protection
  • A translated document certifying the address in Ukraine
